Counseling and Wellness
New teachers in high-needs schools need access to mental health clinicians that understand the unique stressors of working in an urban education setting; The Resilient Teacher accomplishes this by providing teachers access to high quality, short term mental health and support services that understand the unique needs, schedules, and stressors of having the hardest (and best) job in the world.
The Resilient Teacher, a program launching this fall with the purpose of assisting new educators in adjusting to the hardest (and best!) job in the world, is currently accepting clients for groups starting in August and September.
The program will provide teachers with specialized interventions that include short-term individual and group counseling purposefully designed to accommodate a teacher’s busy schedule and address specific stressors that arise from working in a school.
- The 5-session program (2 individual sessions, 3 group sessions) is abbreviated for teachers with little time to spare outside of school.
- All sessions are held during the evening and/or on weekends, when teachers can attend.
- One-on-one counseling sessions address individual needs.
- Small group sessions allow teachers to find support and increase resiliency by processing experiences. Using mini-lessons to learn about stress and anxiety, teachers will identify specific stressors and learn implementable coping strategies.
